Mary Chow Scholarship

Professor Weichien Chow, a former faculty member in General Engineering, established this award in honor of his late wife, Mary Chow. After receiving a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nanking, China, an M.A. Degree in Library Science from Rosary College, Illinois, Mary Chow worked for a number of years at the University of Illinois. She was employed as both an agricultural economist within the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics and as a librarian in the Asian Library. She tremendously enjoyed her involvement with students and firmly believed in the value of an advanced education. Professor Weichien Chow completed a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Lester Institute of Technology, China, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin before spending thirty years working in industry as a design engineer.
