Course Description
This course begins with a discussion of foundation-level ideas and concepts behind supply chain management, followed by coverage of a number of operations research models to address decision scenarios can occur within manufacturing-related supply chains. These topics include (1) selecting production facility locations and assigning these facilities to the markets they will serve, (2) making strategic decisions under uncertainty, (3) forecasting demand and developing production plans, (4) analysis of cycle inventory and optimal lot sizing, (5) assessment of safety inventory levels under uncertain demand, and (6) selecting optimal levels of product availability. 3 undergraduate hours. 3 or 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: IE 310.
