We are pleased to announce the recipients of the following ISE awards in recognition of excellence in support of the educational mission of ISE:
James Franklin Sharp Outstanding Teaching Award in Industrial Engineering: Doug King
The James Franklin Sharp Outstanding Teaching Award in Industrial Engineering recognizes Doug King for excellence in teaching in Industrial Engineering courses such as “Analysis of Data” (IE300), “Industrial Quality Control” (IE330), and “OR Models for Manufacturing Systems” (IE412). The award consists of an honorarium. This award was endowed by a philanthropic gift from Dr. James Franklin Sharp of New York, New York (originally from Chester, Illinois). Dr. Sharp received a BSIE from the University of Illinois in 1959 and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. Past recipients are: AY 19/20 - Chrysafis Vogiatzis; AY 18/19 - Jugal Garg; AY 17/18 - Karthik Chandrasekaran.
ISE Department Head Teaching Award: Joe Barich
The ISE Department Head Teaching Award recognizes Joe Barich for excellence in teaching “Engineering Law” (SE400), for which he has been on the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent” every single semester continuously without interruption for more than 10 years (21 total semesters). Barich also contributes to the broad educational mission of GCoE through the Technology Entrepreneur Center course “Startups: Incorporation, Funding, Contracts, and Intellectual Property” (TE450), for which he has been on the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent” 10 times. The award consists of a crystal and honorarium. Past recipients are: AY 19/20 - Abigail Wooldridge; AY 18/19 - Douglas King; AY 17/18 - Harry Wildblood.
ISE Excellence Staff Award: Heidi Craddock
The ISE Excellence Staff Award recognizes exemplary service in support of the ISE mission by a staff member. Year after year, Heidi Craddock demonstrates a high-level of devotion to the ISE students and our undergraduate programs. She has initiated numerous innovative ideas for our advising, recruiting, outreach and curriculum implementation efforts. In fact, some of these ideas have been adopted at the college level. Her dedication has clearly impacted the undergraduate program’s growth in stature and ranking. The award consists of a crystal and honorarium. Past recipients are: AY 19/20 - Mike Adams; AY 18/19 - Barb Bohlen and Julie Murphy; AY 17/18 - Shawna Graddy. The selection committee consists of the Department Head, Associate Head for Undergraduate Programs, Associate Head for Graduate Studies, and previous year’s winner.
