Laura Albert
Laura Albert is a professor and the David Gustafson Department Chair of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is strongly connected to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in general engineering and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering. Additionally, she is the incoming president of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) for 2023.
Albert's research specializations are in operations research and analytics, with application to security and public-sector problems. Her work has been highly regarded and acknowledged through various awards, including a Fulbright Award, INFORMS Impact Prize, National Science Foundation CAREER Award and Department of the Army Young Investigator Award. She has also been recognized as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers.
Alongside her academic work, Albert also writes the blog "Punk Rock Operations Research."
