Course Description
Design is universal in a wide range of fundamental areas of manufacturing, service, and product development. This course is designed to focus on the quality aspect of design of complex systems and utilize Six Sigma quality principles and methodologies. The course is based on fundamental tools of statistics and design of processes, namely the Six Sigma Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) process. After a successful completion of the course, students will be able to understand and apply core Six Sigma principles and approaches including statistical process control, designed experiments, and measurement systems analysis. In-depth case studies will be utilized to apply the core method in the areas of produce development, service enterprise, and manufacturing processes in conjunction with realistic tools such as Minitab software. Prerequisite: IE 300.
