The 2025 Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering (ISE) Recognition Awards Ceremony brought together students, alumni, faculty and staff in a celebratory evening at the Campus Instructional Facility. The event honored outstanding students and distinguished alumni whose achievements reflect ISE’s values of innovation, leadership and global impact.
Among the speakers was IISE UIUC President Yara Aoun, who movingly shared how she found a sense of home and purpose within ISE after arriving from Lebanon to attend college. ISE Distinguished Alumni honoree Dan Block also delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on his rewarding career and sharing fond memories of his time at Illinois—reminding attendees of the lifelong value of an ISE education.
Department Head Jeff Shamma spoke on the department’s continued momentum and vision for the future, while Past Alumni Board President, Mike Loquercio, charged students to fully embrace every opportunity in their Illinois journey.
Awards were presented across categories recognizing academic excellence, service, and leadership, celebrated by a crowd that blended the past, present and future of ISE. The evening underscored not only individual accomplishments but the strength of a community united by curiosity, collaboration and impact.
