Albert Patterson

Dr. Albert E. Patterson is an Assistant Professor of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology, with appointments in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution and Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is the director of the Manufacturability-Driven Design Lab at the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and BS and MS degrees in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (respectively) from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. While at UIUC, he held a Mavis Future Faculty Fellowship in the Grainger College of Engineering. Dr. Patterson's research work is at the intersection of design methods, manufacturing science, and experimental mechanics, resulting in over 50 technical publications. He is an active member of several professional societies, as a conference chair for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and a voting member of two ASTM standards committees. Prior to obtaining his doctoral degree, he worked for several years in the aerospace industry as a practicing engineer/analyst with Boeing and the US Department of Defense. Dr. Patterson is also an experienced machine tool and heavy equipment operator and mechanic.
