Jingnan Chen, a graduate student in the Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering department, is the first runner-up in Morgan Stanley’s 2012 Prize for Excellence in Financial Markets competition.

The annual award was established to reward brilliance in financial research among graduate students from top finance, economic, and computer science programs in the United States and Europe. It is a highly competitive award that draws contention from many prestigious schools, including Standford, Berkeley, and Princeton.

Many of the past winners and runner-ups of the competition have gone on to become professors, which is a career path Chen is pursuing. Her advisors are Professors Liming Feng and Jiming Peng.
